Message from the Principal

Dear Prairie Sky School Families,

Six weeks into the school year, Prairie Sky School is full of energy and learning. Students are working hard in their classrooms, fall sports and clubs are in full swing, and it is wonderful to see the hustle and bustle throughout the building.

One of the best parts of this time of year is seeing the relationships between students and staff continue to grow. As those connections strengthen, student confidence and learning continue to flourish.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping make Prairie Sky such a positive and welcoming community.

We hope everyone enjoys the upcoming long weekend. For those celebrating Thanksgiving, we wish you a wonderful holiday filled with family, friends, and gratitude.

Have a great weekend!

Prairie Sky News

From the Office

Please be advised that school pick-ups after 2:00 p.m. (Friday 11:30 a.m.) will not be accommodated. If your child needs to be picked up early, please ensure that the pick-up takes place before 2:00 p.m. (Friday 11:30a.m.)

All early pick-ups must also be communicated to the school in advance. Last-minute requests may not be accommodated, as they can disrupt the school day and our regular routines.

We kindly ask for your cooperation in providing sufficient notice and planning all early pick-ups accordingly.

Safety Spotlight:

Personal Space and Awareness

A reminder for students to be aware of their personal space and the space of those around them. This includes keeping hands, feet, and objects to ourselves, respecting others’ boundaries, and making safe choices when playing or moving through busy areas of the school. We also encourage students to speak with an adult if they see something that makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Thank you for helping us reinforce these important habits at home and at school.

Safe Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures

The safety of our students, families, and staff remains a top priority at Prairie Sky School. As we continue to focus on safe pick-up and drop-off routines, we would like to remind everyone to use designated crosswalks when crossing the street and to avoid jaywalking. Modelling safe behaviors helps keep all members of our school community safe. We also ask drivers to follow all road safety rules by pulling over completely when dropping off or picking up students and avoiding illegal U-turns in the middle of the road. A few extra moments of patience and attention go a long way in ensuring a safe arrival and dismissal for everyone. Thank you for working together to make Prairie Sky School a safe place for all.

Free Online Well-Being Sessions for Families and Caregivers

Parents and guardians are invited to a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, these sessions are designed to equip families with the knowledge, tools and strategies to navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today.
