Prairie Sky News  

Dear Prairie Sky Families, 

As we move into the final weeks of the school year, things are quickly becoming busier here at Prairie Sky! It’s always an exciting time as we look back on a year of learning while also enjoying many memorable activities and celebrations together. 

Here’s a look at what’s coming up this week: 

• Track & Field Meet (Monday): We are looking forward to a great day of participation, teamwork, and school spirit as our students take part in our track and field events. 
• Students vs. Teachers Volleyball Games (throughout the week): One of our favorite traditions! Students will have the chance to challenge staff in some friendly (and competitive!) volleyball games. 
• Provincial Achievement Tests: Our Grade 6 and Grade 9 students will begin their provincial assessments this week. We wish them all the best as they demonstrate their learning. 
• New Kindergarten Welcome Evening (Wednesday): We are excited to welcome our newest Prairie Sky learners and their families to our school community. 
• Band & CTF Celebration: We will be celebrating the hard work and accomplishments of our students involved in band and Career and Technology Foundations courses — a wonderful showcase of their talents and learning. 
• Kindergarten Zoo Field Trip: We will wrap up the week with a special adventure as our kindergarten students head to the zoo — a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year! 

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic and energetic week filled with learning, celebration, and community. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Prairie Sky School. 

Safety 

We would like to remind all students and families about the importance of safety before and after school. Students riding bikes or scooters are expected to wear helmets at all times and to ride cautiously, especially when approaching school grounds. We have noticed an increase in the use of motorized scooters, and it is essential that riders slow down and remain aware of others to help keep everyone safe. Additionally, students must ensure that their bikes and scooters are properly locked when at school. Unfortunately, there have been a few instances of theft recently involving items that were not secured. Taking these simple precautions will help keep our students safe and protect their belongings.

Next School Council Meeting: 

The next school council meeting will be at 5:45 pm on Monday, June 15th at Prairie Sky School, in the Gathering Space. We will continue to incorporate a 'live stream' Teams meeting options if you would prefer to join remotely, please click here to join. All parents and guardians are welcome!
