Over the summer new modular classrooms were installed at Prairie Sky School. However, due to a number of unexpected events, work on the classrooms is not complete. We anticipate it will be the end of September before they are ready for learning.
The school does not have additional space to accommodate the Grade 6 students scheduled to use the new modulars. As a result, Grade 6 students and their teachers will be temporarily moved to Manmeet Singh Bhullar School until the work is finalized. All Grade 6 classes will start the school year together in this temporary location and move back to Prairie Sky School as soon as the work is finalized.
There will be no change for other grades in the school. We will share more information directly with Grade 6 families.
We understand this news is disappointing. It will be a short-term inconvenience to add spaces to the school so we can come together again as school community as soon as possible.
At this time, we do not know the date the construction will be completed, but we want to ensure all families student learning will not be disrupted. There will also be additional construction as a new fire hydrant is installed outside of the school. We ask for your patience and understanding in following signs and directions.
Families can expect to receive information from their child’s teacher before the start of the school year, so you know what to expect at the school on the first day of classes.
We will continue to share updates about the modular construction as they become available. If you have any questions, please email the Area 4 Office at Area4@cbe.ab.ca.
