Dear PSS Friends & Families,
This letter is to inform you I have been appointed Principal Consultant, Teacher Staffing & Recruitment with the Calgary Board of Education, beginning October 14, 2025. As you can imagine, it has been an emotional process for me in making this decision, but in the end, I feel this is the right next step in my professional journey.
It has been my true privilege to serve as principal of Prairie Sky School for the past three years. Opening Prairie Sky and building the vision of a vibrant K–9 learning community has been one of the greatest honours of my career. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you for your support and for entrusting me with the care and learning of your children.
During my time here, I have fostered meaningful relationships with many of you, and I will always cherish the memories and friendships I’ve made. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Assistant Principals Michael Pierce and Uroog Quraishi, our dedicated staff, families and, most of all, our incredible students. I am especially proud of our students, and I look forward to hearing about their accomplishments as they continue their learning at Prairie Sky School and beyond.
As part of this transition, I will be supporting the incoming principal to ensure a positive and meaningful handover for our community. The Calgary Board of Education welcomes input from parents, students and staff regarding the programming and leadership attributes you value. Your input is taken into consideration and will be shared directly with the new Principal of Prairie Sky School to inform their entry plan into the school. An online survey is available on the Prairie Sky School website as a News story with an embedded survey link which will be accessible until noon on Friday, September 19, 2025. You may also click on here to access the survey.
As I reflect on this next step, I’m reminded of the message in The North Star—that each journey has its own path, and we all move forward guided by what inspires and sustains us. My path is leading me toward a new role, but Prairie Sky will always be my North Star—a place of joy, growth, and community that I will forever carry with me.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Ms. Bains, Principal
